Description of sill execution
A-section
1. Dog’s movement near a trainer, attitude to shooting.
At the beginning of the trials by judge’s command a trainer and a dog come up to him. Then he takes the initial position ( a trainer is standing quietly, a dog is sitting at his left leg). A trainer must call his own name and dog’s full name distinctly. A judge collates a dog’ brand number with the brand number indicated in the application. Then examination of a dog is conducted. Bite and tooth-formula test, and presence of testicles (males) as well, are the obligatory requirements. After the report and dog’s examination a trainer and a dog demonstrate turns to the right, to the left and round, then during movement a judge checks dog’s work at stops, change of the direction and movement speed. A dog should go quietly near a trainer at his left leg {dog’s shoulder is to be on the level of a trainer’s knee). At stops a dog should sit down at the trainer’s left leg. Dog’s attitude to shooting is checked when moving near a trainer without a lead. They shoot two times out of a starting pistol at 5 seconds-interval at 15 m-distance from a dog. A dog should be indifferent to shooting.
The highest rating is 20 marks.
The rating is lowered for: falling behind; running ahead; any deviation; pushing a trainer aside; hampering movement. Attitude to shooting is estimated according to the General Regulations, item 6.
2. Sitting, laying and stand of a dog. The voice commands or a gesture.
A trainer leaves a dog at its place in the “Sit!”-position, goes aside from it at 25m-distance and gives a dog the commands (by voice or a gesture ) making it take the required position. Every skill must be carried out twice out off different positions. By the first command a dog must take a required position, not change it and not move ahead, and stay in this position until another command is given (moving of a dog by all four feet is considered as change of a position). If a dog changes a position without a trainer’s command, a trainer should make a dog take the required position.
he comlex of skills is considered as failed if a dog moves aside at more than 3m-distance in all positions. The frequent commands caused by distraction and given to a turned away dog (inopportune commands) are considered as a trainer’s mistake. A dog is punished for distraction only.
The highest rating is 20 marks.
The rating is lowered for: any change of a position without a command; false position; slow execution of the skill.
3. Coming up to a trainer. A voice command or a gesture. If it is necessary to call up a dog , a trainer gives the command “Come!” (by voice or by a gesture) and calls up a dog . A dog must run up to a trainer quickly and sit down at his left leg (it is not necessary for a dog to go round a trainer). A dog must take the initial position by the first command. It is admitted for a dog to sit down infront of a trainer when coming up to him; then a dog must sit down at trainer’s left leg when the command “Heel!” is given. The skill is considered as failed , if a dog doesn’t come up to a trainer during 15 minutes after the first command is given. It is allowed to call a dog by name to attract its arttention, when calling up a dog ( the raiting is not lowered, the coming up-time is counting from the moment when the name of a dog is pronounced).
The highest rating is 5 marks.
The rating is lowered for: slow execution of the skill; absence of sitting.
4. Going back to a place. A voice command or a gesture. A trainer makes a dog lie down by the command “Down!”, puts an object in front of it, gives the command “Place!” and goes forward from a dog at 25 m-distance.Then, by a judge’s coomand, he:
- calls up a dog by the voice command “Come!” and a gesture (after 30 seconds-staying-power);
- makes a dog take its place by the voice command ”Place!” and a gesture (after 10-15 seconds-staying-power).
y the first command a dog must run up to a trainer quickly, and then, by the first command, come back to its place and lie down at 1m-distance from an object it left. A trainer comes up to a dog after 30 seconds-staying-power and takes an object away; till this moment a dog should be in the “Sit!”-positon. The skill is considered as failed if a dog doesn’t come back, or if it lies down at more than 2 m- distance from an object it left.
The highest rating is 10 marks.
The rating is lowered for: slow execution of the skill; absence of laying; distraction.
5. Giving an object to a trainer (fetching). A voice command, a gesture. A dog is at trainer’s left leg. A trainer shows any object to a dog, gives the command “Sit!” and throws an object in fron of him ( at 10m-distance or more). After staying-power a trainer sends a dog to fetch an object by the command “Fetch!”and a gesture simultaneously. A dog must run up to a thrown object, take it , come up to a trainer quickly and sit down with an object in its teeth at trainer’s left leg, in front of him, and keep an object until a trainer gives a command and takes an object away. Then, by a command, a dog must take the initial position. It is allowed for a dog to sit down at trainer’s left leg immediately when fetching. After staying-power, by the command “Give!”, a dog must give an object to a trainer. If a dog doesn’t fetch an object and throws it at 1m-distance from a traner, or doesn’t give it back to a trainer,the skill is considered as failed.
The highest rating is 15 marks.
The rating is lowered for: absence of staying-power; slow execution of the skill; distraction; playing with an object; any change of the initial position by a trainer and for assisting a dog (5 marks for every violation).
6.Attitude to food. A voice command, a gesture. The place for execution of this skill must be approximately of 3 õ 4 m-size, three pieces of food are put on this place by an assistant beforehand to attract dog’s attention (meat, sausage, bisquit and so on). The number of the pieces should be known for a judge and a trainer. By judge’s command a trainer and a dog without a lead come up to the place where the pieces of food are put; then they stop at 2 m-distance from it and a trainer sends a dog to the place by a command and a gesture. A trainer goes towards the food together with a dog. When they pass this place, a trainer, by judge’s command, calls a dog up and puts it on a lead. Then a strange person throws food to a dog. It is not allowed to throw food in dog’s mouth. A lead should be loose when checking this skill. A dog must be indifferent to the put on the ground food or, to the food thrown by a stranger. Demonstration of aggressiveness by a dog is not welcomed when carrying out this skill. The skill is considered as failed, if a dog takes food into the mouth.
The highest rating is 5 marks.
The rating is lowered for: sheer orientated behaviuor.
7. Stopping of undesirable actions. A voice command. The skill is checked (on a trainer’s agreement) by one of the following skills :
- a dog is forbidden to take an object from a trainer;
- “a broken-off attack"
In the first case a trainer sends a dog to fetch a thrown object. Then, by judge’s instruction, a trainer gives a dog the command “Out!”. When a dog carries out the command, he comes up to the object and takes it away. In the second case, by judge’s instrution, an assistant stands at 60 m-distance from a dog and moves quietly towards a trainer and a dog, drawing dog’s attention. A trainer, by judge’s instruction, puts a dog into detention; a trainer should stay at his place. An assistant should stop when a trainer gives the command. When a dog runs 30 m-distance, a trainer gives it a command to stop and go back. The command to go back given after the command to stop is not penalized. A dog must quickly stop the actions it was doing by the first command. If a dog goes on carrying out the actions it was doing before (when two forbidding commands are given), the skill is considered as failed.
The highest rating is 5 marks.
The rating is lowered for: the frequent commands, careless execution of the skill.
8. Negotiating obstacles (a track and field barrier (91,4 cm), a balance beam, a through ladder, a blind fence of 1,8 m-height or a sloping wall of 1,8 m-height). The voice commands or a gesture. Dog’s testing on negotiating obstacles may be conducted in any succession. A trainer makes a dog sit in front of an obstacle not further than at 3 m-distance, and then, after a short staying-power, sends a dog to negotiate it. Then a trainer goes round an obtacle from the right, not moving ahead of a dog, calls a dog up to him and goes on moving towards another obstacle. It is forbidden to assist a dog when negotiating an obstacle. A dog must negotiate an obstacle by the first command. It must negotiate a track and field barrier without touching it by feet, climb over a blind fence and a sloping wall clutching at the upper edge of a fence or a wall by the front paws, and jump down from the other side of a fence or a wall. A dog climbs up a balance beam by a ladder, gets it over and goes down from the other side of a ladder. A trainer goes behind a dog or near it. A dog climbs up a ladder from one side and goes down from another. A trainer moves along the ladder. not going ahead of a dog, then calls a dog up and goes on moving towards another obstacle, or until a judge gives a command.
The highest rating is 5 marks for every obstacle.
rating is lowered for: low, hesitating execution of the skill, absence of staying-power when carrying out the skill, other attempts.
B-section
1. Choosing a strange object. A command and a gesture with the right hand. Before carrying out this skill a trainer should inform a judge about the way a dog shows an object. A dog should choose a strange object out of seven ones, these objects may be made of any material (except glass, metal or stone), the material shouldn’t have any strong smell. A smell should be put on the objects within three minutes (not less). The objects are put on a place of 2? 2m-size in any order at not less than 40 cm-distance from each other. The fifth object for smelling is put at 3 m-distance from other objects (from any side of them). A trainer and a dog are called out to a place where the objects are put for choosing.
After the report a trainer, by judge’s instruction, comes up to the object and gives it to a dog to smell. A method of smelling may be of any kind. The given command is “Smell!”. When a dog smells the object, a trainer, from his place, sends it for choosing by the command “Smell!” or “Search!” and by a gesture. A dog should come up to the objects by the first command, smell them and choose the proper one. If a dog shows the object by fetching it, it is not necessary for a dog to go round a trainer and sit down at his foot. The frequent commands are allowed if a dog distracts from choosing (goes aside from a place where the objects are put, or smells other objects and so on). Two attempts are possible, 2 minutes are for every attempt. If the first attempt-time is over and a dog doesn’t choose the proper object, a trainer calls up a dog to him by the command “Come!”, gives the object to a dog to smell again and sends a dog to have another try.
The assistants should renew the smell at the second attempt. If a dog chooses the wrong object, they change this object for another one with the same smell. The skill is considered as failed if a dog chooses wrong object at the second attempt, or if the object is not chosen during 2 minutes at the second attempt, or if a trainer assists a dog to choose the object.
The highest rating is 30 marks.
The rating is lowered for: throwing things about and sorting them out.
The maximum rating at the second attempt is 20 marks. The mistakes of the first attempt are not taken into consideration at the second one.
2. Guarding an object. For execution of this skill a trainer, by judge’s instruction, fixes a dog in the “Down!’-position in the middle of the circle (the radius of the circle is 2 m), puts one of his things at dog’s shoulder or at its front feet, gives the command “Guard!” and goes aside at 15 m-distance. A specially dressed assistant goes round the outside circle of 5m-radius, and doesn’t attack a dog and draw its attention. Then he takes an attempt to enter the inner circle and take the thing away. An assistant is free in his actions, but he can not influence upon a dog by force. If a dog catches hold of an assistant before he manages to touch or take the thing, an assistant waits for 2 seconds and goes away, moving backwards and pulling a dog (if a dog doesn’t weaken a grip). If a dog catches hold of an assistant after hemanaged to take the thing, an assistant must put the thing at dog’s feet immediately and act as it was described above. The rating is not lowered, if a dog catches hold of an assistant in the inner circle before he manages to touch the thing, or let him to pull itself towards the border of the circle, but doesn’t leave the circle. A judge takes dog’s location into consideration, when measuring the distance at which a dog let an assistant pull itself towards the border of the circle. They consider that a dog leaves the circle, if four dog’s feet are out of the circle border. If a dog keeps the thing in its teeth or puts it on its paw, an assistant may have attempts to distract a dog from guarding the thing during 30 seconds. It is not allowed to take the thing away by force. If it is impossible to protect an assistant totally, then, by judge’s discretion, they admit free guarding of an object, a dog should wear a strict muzzle.
A dog must guard an object; it mustn’t attack a quietly passing by assistant, go away from an object or pull it about. The skill is considered as failed, if an assistant manages to take an object away, or if a dog distracts three times going away from an object in the trainer’s direction (more than at 1m-distance) before the beginning of the skill teting.
The highest rating is 20 marks.
The rating is lowered if: a dog let an assistant pull itself out of the border of the inner circle (one mark for every metre); a dog let an assistant pull itself out of the border of the outside circle (10 marks are taken away). The skill is considered as failed, if a dog doesn’t guard an object.
3. Detention. A trainer and a dog without a lead go to a place determined by a judge. An assistant is in a shelter, at 15-20 m-distance from a trainer and a dog. By judge’s instruction a trainer gives a dog the command “Heel!” and begins to move towards a shelter. Suddenly an assistant goes out of a shelter and attacks a trainer, fighting is not allowed. A dog must attack an assistant and catch a tight hold of him. At this moment an assistant beats a dog twice with a riding-crop. He is allowed to beat it on the withers or on a shoulder-blade. Voice encouragement of a dog is admissible. By judge’s instruction an assistant stops attacking. A dog must stop gripping by the first command or without it. A trainer comes up to a dog and puts it in the “Sit!”- or “Down!”-position, then gives an assistant a command to go away at 3 m-distance, and to a dog - the command “Guard!” and goes to a shelter.. An assistant, by judge’s instruction, tries to run away from a dog, when a trainer is in a shelter ( judge’s command to an assistant is also a simultaneous command to a trainer to go out of a shelter). A dog must prevent an assistant from doing it and catch a tight hold of him. By judge’s instruction an assistant stops, and a dog must leave him. One forbidding command is allowed. In 5 seconds after guarding an assistant, by judge’s instruction, attacks a dog again. A dog must attack an assistant who must stop to attack a dog by judge’s command. A dog must stop gripping by the first command or without it. A trainer comes up to a dog and conducts escorting. An assistant is allowed to hold a ridig-crop, but in such a way that it is unseen for a dog. Then the escorting of an assistant from his back at 20 m-distance follows. A trainer asks an assistant to go in front of him, and follows him together with a dog at 5m-distance, a dog is at trainer’s leg. An assistant attacks a dog out of the back-escorting-position without stopping. A dog must defend itself by a strong grip immediately. If a dog makes a grip, a trainer must stop at the place he was standing. By judge’s command an assistant stops. A dog must stop gripping by the first command or without it and guard an assistant. By judge’s instruction a trainer comes up to an assistant, takes a riding-crop away and conducts the side-escorting at 15 m-distance. A voice command is allowed at the beginning of the escorting. A dog is between an assistant and a trainer when escorting, it shouldn’t demonstrate unprovoked aggressiveness. The group stops before a judge, a trainer gives a riding-crop to him. Then a trainer and a dog go to the place determined by a judge, and take the initial position. Another assistant, by judge’s instruction, goes out of a shelter that is situated at 40 m-distance and runs towards a dog. When an assistant is at 30 m-distance from a trainer, the latter, by judge’ instruction, let a dog go and stays at his place. An assistant attacks a dog shouting and making threatening movements. A dog must defend itself by a strong grip immediately. If a dog makes a strong grip, it is beaten two times on the withers or on a shoulder-blade. Then an assistant leaves the ring ground. A trainer and a dog leave the ground when the mark is announced
The skill is considered as failed, if:
- a dog doesn’t stop bite work after the fourth command;
- a dog is made to stop bite work by force.
The highest rating is 50 marks.
rating is lowered for: a weak, not active grip; absence of alert when escorting; the frequent commands
